Professor Anthony Dayan, LLB, MD, moved from hospital pathologist to become Head of Toxicology at Wellcome Foundation R & D, Beckenham, and then became Professor of Toxicology at Barts Hospital, London until his retirement.

He has been a member of many national and international regulatory committees for medicines, including gene therapy, as well as for foods and environmental pollutants. He has consulted widely for UK, European, US and Japanese companies in these areas, with a particular interest in biotechnology and its applications.
