With over 35 years experience as a researcher and adviser to the vaccine manufacturing industry and the World Health Organisation, Professor Colin Howard has held senior management positions in both the academic and commercial sectors.

Recently Vice-principal for Strategic and International Development at the Royal Veterinary College, he is now Honorary Professor in Virology at the University of Birmingham College of Medicine and Dentistry. As founder and CEO of the London BioScience Innovation Centre, he was recently presented with a Lifetime Achievement award by the London Biotechnology Network for his work in encouraging business and academic engagement.

Since 1980 he has worked closely with Chinese scientists and developed collaborative initiatives in Hong Kong and China. Currently Colin is a Visiting Professor at Fudan University, Shanghai and HuaZhong Agricultural University, Wuhan in addition to being an Honorary professor at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong.

Colin is a member of the UK Government Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens and has recently worked as a specialist adviser for the House of Commons.
